Arkansas State University plans to create a College of Veterinary Medicine to serve the needs of our state and region. From A-State’s founding in 1909, the university has been an integral part of the agricultural fabric of the greater Delta region. The veterinary medicine project brings together the uniquely positioned resources of A-State with a distinct and growing need for practitioners.
Fulfilling the Dreams of Numerous ArkansansIn a state currently without a College of Veterinary Medicine, the A-State project can fulfill the dreams of numerous Arkansans who wish to stay home for their education as well as attract students from out-of-state. As with medical school graduates, there is a strong correlation between where a DVM receives their education and training and where they establish their practice.
Pre-Veterinary Programs AvailableA-State offers two programs with a pre-veterinary emphasis that prepare students for admission into a veterinary medicine program.
The Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in Animal Science and the Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences both offer a pre-veterinary emphasis.
